City Neighbors High School will grow each year, adding one grade of 80 students, until it reaches its capacity of 320 students in 2013. City Neighbors High School seeks to be a model of progressive, urban education. Developed in the model of its founding school K-8 school, City Neighbors Charter School (www.cityneighbors.org), City Neighbors High School is built on the foundational principles of project-based learning, social constructivism, arts based learning, teacher empowerment, parent-school partnership, and a small school model.

The Principal of City Neighbors High School is responsible for all aspects of school life including but not limited to the development of school culture, the development and implementation of curriculum aligned with the ideals of the charter, the hiring and effective supervision and support of all staff, the development of a vibrant parent-school partnership, and ultimately the academic and social/emotional growth of students.

The Principal of City Neighbors High School is the primary administrator in the school structure. The principal is supported by an Office Administrator and, once the school grows to full capacity, by a Dean of Students. She or he is also supported by a working Board of Trustees, each with an assigned volunteer support role in the school. And, the principal works in collaboration with the principal of City Neighbors Charter School (opened in 2005), City Neighbors Hamilton (K-8 opened in 2009), an Executive Director and an Academic Director of City Neighbors Inc. Each design at City Neighbors (for every member of our community) is developed to allow each person to be as effective, supported, and inspired as possible.

We are looking for the Principal to begin as early as February 1st as part of a planning process. However, we will also consider excellent candidates who can begin as late as July 1st.
