Position Overview With a strong software engineering background and proven Web development experience, the Web Software Engineer is expected to work on easports.com front end and middle tier. Key Responsibilities " Reporting to the Development Director of the Sports Online Web team, develop Web pages and middleware components for easports.com site on a strict schedule. " Apply your knowledge of Web technologies including HTML, CSS, Javascript, Flash, graphics, and video to create dynamic and highly interactive Web experience for millions of users worldwide. " Work in a tight production loop with producers to implement requested product features in specified releases. " Work closely with the Platform team and base the development on the middle tier Web framework built and maintained by the Platform team. Required Technical Skills and Experience " B.Sc. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience. " A minimum of 5 years industry technical experience working on consumer facing Web sites. " Strong knowledge of front-end Web technologies including HTML, CSS, Javascript, Flash, graphics, and video. " Real experience with a modern Javascript library like YUI, jQuery or Dojo is required. " 2+ years experience with Java and PHP. Knowledge of C/C++ desired; knowledge/experience with Ruby, Python, Erlang and Scala highly beneficial. " 2+ years experience working with at least 2 modern Web frameworks like RoR, Django, Symfony, Struts etc. " Knowledge of HTTP and REST are expected. " 2+ years experience working with databases and good knowledge of SQL. Oracle, MySQL and Postgresql experience preferred. " Basic knowledge of security and cryptography, single sign-on and LDAP directory services. " Knowledge of source code management: CVS, Subversion, Git and/or Perforce. " Both Windows and Linux experience are required. Performance Competencies (Non Technical Skills) " Excellent verbal and written communication skills. " Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment. " Excellent detail-oriented, problem solving skills. " Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, principles and solutions.
