IMMEDIATE OPENING-- interviewing week of 10/19/2009:

Energetic and experienced teaching artists needed to work with NYC public school classes (K-12) integrating the arts into academic subjects.

URGENT NEED for teaching artists in:
- Dance (seeking Latin Dance teaching artists)
- Science (must have experience and education in lab sciences and ability to teach hands-on science activities to children)
- Music (seeking choral music teaching artists)
- Cartooning and Animation

A flexible schedule is essential, as artists must be willing to travel to multiple boroughs and must be available to work at least two days a week. Commute times to the schools are often more than an hour, including travel to the outer areas of the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens.

Applicants must have a college degree and 2-3 years of teaching experience, as well as a strong passion for arts integration. All teaching artists will receive training and have access to core lesson plans and materials.

Please note that this is a contracted teaching artist position, not full-time. Most of our teaching artists begin by working 1 day a week. LeAp's starting rate for a half-day of teaching (3 hours) is $100/day and for a full day (5 hours) is $130/day.
