Summary
New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) is a community-based, non-profit organization that works to ensure that new immigrants can build social, political and economic power in their communities and beyond. Based in Jackson Heights, Queens NICE works primarily with low-wage recent immigrants who are day laborers, domestic workers and restaurant/deli workers. As recent immigrants, many of NICE's community members lack information regarding their rights as immigrants and workers, as well as their right to access basic services, such as health care, education, and financial services. NICE addresses issues faced by its community members through a variety of strategies, such as direct services – including rights-based English literacy classes, social work services, and assistance with non-payment of wages - and though community-building, grassroots organizing and grassroots advocacy.

NICE seeks a full-time Social Services Coordinator will be who will be responsible for coordinating three primary programs within NICE social and educational services: 1) the ESOL thorugh Civic Literacy Program 2) Immigrant Family Services 3) Parent Workshops

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1) Immigrant Family Services
? Meet with individual community members for Case Management and Referrals. This includes assessment, evaluation of needs, follow-up, and completion of a work plan.
? Coordinate a series of educational workshops and/or clinics related to community needs.
? Develop relationships with service providers in Queens and throughout NYC, specifically agencies that work with immigrant populations. Network and grow the program and build opportunities for program collaboration between NICE and other organizations.
? Coordinate NICE’s Computer Help night a weekly program where community members come in to use NICE’s computers and are assisted by high school aged volunteers.

2) ESOL through Civic Literacy Program
? Registration and assessment of new and returning adult ESOL students (under guidance of Advocacy Coordinator).
? Overseeing classes on Tuesday and Thursday evening
? Supervise, support and recruit Teachers for the program
? Oversee the development of materials and curriculum for the Adult ESOL program
? Work with NICE’s Advocacy Coordinator in the training and development of teachers for the program.
Work with NICE’s Advocacy Coordinator to guest speakers for ESOL classes
3) Parent Workshops
? Organize a series of educational workshops and/or clinics related to community needs.

For all programs:
? Sustain all administrative and reporting tasks with special attention to ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
? Keep updated folders and case notes in compliance with grant requirements.
