Highlighted Opportunity: Public Interest Fellowship
U.S. PIRG is a national federation that speaks out and takes action at the local, state and national levels on important public interest issues. Through coalition building, media outreach and other tactics, the federation’s fellows organize grassroots political support for action on health care, transportation, energy policies, higher education and consumer and product safety.
The goal of a PIRG Fellowship is to help develop leaders for the public interest movement. As a PIRG Fellow, you gain hands-on experience in organizing, advocating and leading public interest campaigns in your first two years on staff. More importantly, you get real results, whether at the local, state or federal level. And your experience is complemented by intensive training and the direction and advice of a senior mentor.
Recent college graduates earn $33,400 in their first year on staff. In addition, full-time staff can opt into health care insurance plan, receive paid holidays and are eligible for paid sick days. Staff is also eligible to join our 401(k) program in their second year. Training includes both classroom study with hands-on field work. (Salary and benefits vary in other states.)
Preference is given to applicants who are willing to relocate.
