San Francisco Veterinary Specialists (SFVS), the only multi-specialty veterinary hospital located in the City of San Francisco, is seeking a Board-Eligible or Board-Certified Neurologist to implement our commitment to high-quality veterinary care pursuant to our core values of compassion, quality, service and integrity. Our 12,000 square foot hospital has in-house helical CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy and digital radiography, along with 3 surgical suites with complete anesthetic monitoring, in-house lab capabilities.and a professional lab on premisis. The technical staff is experienced, helpful and great to work with. An Animal Scan Imaging Center (formally Iams Pet Imaging) with a 1.5 Tesla MRI unit is located 20 minutes away from our hospital. Current medical staff: 4 Internists, 2 Surgeons, 2 Dermatologists, 1 Cardiologist, 2 Oncologists, 1 Dentist, 2 Behaviorists, 1 Holistic Medicine clinician and 4 interns. Established in 1997, San Francisco Veterinary Specialists is an American Animal Hospital Association-accredited referral hospital and 1 of 19 members of Veterinary Specialty Practice Alliance (VSPA) (http://www.specialtyvets.com/). VSPA is a defined membership of veterinary specialty hospitals where members actively participate in creating benchmarks and tools through communication and collaboration. 1) Develop a rapport with clients and determine their needs and wishes; perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical procedures in a way that will deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort; recommend referral to or consultation with other SFVS specialists when this is likely to significantly improve the diagnostic and therapeutic approach and service to the client. 2) Explain physical examination findings and communicate to the client a diagnosis of the pet’s problems; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client; educate clients on preventative health care,; timely follow-up communication of the same information to the primary care veterinarian for further implementation. 3) Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient. 4) Establish a good rapport with referring veterinarians, including: timely, professional and respectful communication; assistance in their professional growth and education through recommendations and interaction on referred and shared cases; ongoing development of a positive and professional working relationship; participation in Continuing Education involving the local referral community. 5) Assist with marketing the services of the specialty practice through a variety of outreach programs, some of which include: making hospital visits to referring veterinarians, assisting with local CE meetings, answering all calls from referring veterinarians promptly, helping with production of hospital newsletters and case reports, and participating in select PR/community relations activities. 6) Assist with the training of any interns and residents, under the guidance of the Medical Director, if these programs are in place at the practice. 7) Stay up-to-date with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine; fulfill SFVS requirements for attending local SF Veterinary Medical Association Continuing Education meetings. 8) Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
