| Summary |
 |
The Student Success Center (SSC) Director at University City High School (UCHS) will manage all aspects of college access, career readiness, and academic improvement supports at UCHS in an effort to promote collaboration across all constituencies within UCHS, maximize resources, streamline college access, career readiness, and academic improvement efforts, engage the entire UCHS student body in support services, cultivate a college-going, high academically achieving culture, which should ultimately lead to the increase of PSSA scores, timely graduation, and college attendance rates at UCHS. Specific duties include:
Management of the SSC staff, other support agency staff, volunteers, and entire college access, career readiness, and academic improvement operations:
o Create and maintain a positive working environment through cultivating a culture of partnership, execution of set plans, and achieving a desired outcomes
o Assist with the creation and then manage the UCHS execution plan which incorporates college access, career readiness, academic improvement, social support, dropout prevention, reengagement, and leadership development which also outlines specific duties, efforts, and outcomes from all constituencies
o Train SSC staff (including staff from other agencies) and volunteers to provide them with the skills and tools to successfully execute any given responsibility and achieve set goals
o Hold bimonthly data evaluation meetings which update staff on student participation and student outcomes
o Hold weekly staff meetings to plan, coordinate, and update on overall efforts made at UCHS
o Assist all staff channeled through the Center with achieving goals and producing desired outcomes
o Evaluate staff performance and communicate areas of success and improvement with appropriate channels
o Communicate with UCHS leadership and Penn Netter Center staff on overall success and issues
o Keep the Center’s efforts, paperwork, files, and data transparent, accurate, and organized
o Manage the Center’s data in an efficient, accurate, and timely fashion
Management of the Center and any additional Center space
o Expand the Center to include additional computers and access to information for UCHS student body
o Keep the Center neat, clean, and secure during all times
o Monitor usage of space and resources
o Encourage Center space to be used by teachers and student groups
Meet desired goals and outcomes from multiple grants
o Work closely with UCHS leadership and Penn Netter Center staff to ensure efforts yield desired outcomes outlined by funder (PYN), school (UCHS), and youth serving organization (Penn)
o Communicate with the administration of other agencies working at UCHS to ensure efforts yield desired outcomes
o Constantly recruit UCHS students year round in an effort to engage all students
o Communicate any issues and concerns to appropriate channels in a timely manner
Other duties include: managing the UCHS-University of Pennsylvania partnership by representing Penn, the Netter Center for Community Partnerships, and Netter Center programs (Community Schools, College Access and Career Readiness (CACR), Moelis Access, Agaston Urban Nutrition Initiative (AUNI), etc…) as a contributing and supportive partner; participating in UCHS common planning time and UCHS leadership meetings as an equal and contributing partner; working with UCHS leadership team on UCHS specific goals and initiatives; participating in city-wide SSC leadership specific events, meetings, programs, etc…; working closely with Netter Center evaluation staff to successfully collect, track, and report data; assisting with management of SSC UCHS budget; attending Community Schools and CACR leadership meetings; strengthening Penn-UCHS partnership; working progressively with other college access partners within UCHS (Philadelphia Education Fund (PEF), TRIO Programs, Philadelphia Futures, City Year, etc…); contributing to Netter Center strategic plan, and complete other duties as asked.
