Summary
Program Director, Attorney for NextStep Program Program Description: Supports youth (ages 14 -24) through the difficult transition from foster care to independence with a range of legal and non-legal services. Staff and volunteer attorneys represent the youth in consumer fraud, benefits eligibility, special education, disability and other matters.

Responsibilities
Self sufficiency is promoted through life skill workshops, access to community resources, and the support of mentors. Legislative and policy reform efforts address the systemic barriers the youth encounter to employment, housing, and education.
Required Skills
. Monthly meetings with a former foster youth council help guide and inform the program s efforts. Responsibilities: The NextStep Program Director will report to the Legal Director and oversee NextStep program staff including a legal assistant, mentoring director, youth development specialist.

Education and
Experience
Qualifications: Highly motivated 3+ years of attorney, ready to oversee a program that is not exclusively legal. 3+ years of supervisory experience as a managing attorney or has served elsewhere as a manager. Knowledge of juvenile dependency system and/or demonstrated experience working with at-risk youth; excellent written and oral skills; demonstrated leadership ability; comfortable with public speaking and able to multitask in a fast paced environment.
