Summary
Hospital: The Critical Care department is made up of two units--the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). The ICU cares for trauma patients brought in through the hospital's Level 1 Trauma Center as well as medical/surgical patients. The CVICU cares for cardiovascular patients including those with MIs, open heart, CHF and medical/surgical patients. The ICU and CVICU are each 22-bed units. In collaboration with our Physicians and ancillary health personnel, we have a climate of teamwork that not only supports excellent customer service, but exceptional quality outcomes for the patients we serve. Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse working in Cardiovascular or traditional Critical Care unit is responsible and accountable for assigned patients care while utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practice to provide and monitor the patient's documented plan of care. Coordinates patient care, team activities and plan of care with other healthcare team members; implements care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner. Evaluates effectiveness of care provided by comparing patient response with observable outcomes. Identifies and delivers initial and ongoing patient/family's education needs as an integral part of care delivery. Initiates discharge planning based on admission assessment; makes appropriate referrals and monitors patients progress and readiness for discharge by focusing on physical/psychosocial health status assessment of patient in an ongoing, systematic manner.
