The WIC Project Coordinator provides nutritional services to WIC participants and is responsible for directing, managing and coordinating the daily operations of the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program under the direction of the Public Health Administrator and / or designee.

Responsibilities
• Determine eligibility of WIC participants (pregnant women, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants, and children) through health and nutrition screening / assessment according to State and Federal guidelines as well as program standards.
• Effectively communicate WIC service parameters to clients in person, by phone or letter, including rules, procedures, goals, client rights and responsibilities.
• Prescribe, print and tailor WIC food instrument packages to meet nutritional needs.
• Maintain appropriate records and materials needed for group and individual nutrition education sessions, in accordance with State and Federal guidelines.
• Cooperate with all program goals of the Regional Public Health Nutritionist and State WIC office.
• Follow Value Enhance Nutrition Assessment principles, augmented by counseling and education, in accordance with State guidelines.
• Conduct high-risk certification and secondary education.
• Plan and implement secondary education sessions; assist in the review and selection of nutrition materials with the emphasis on disease prevention and wellness.
• Write nutrition education materials and prepare the WIC bulletin board.
• Provide input to health studies and assessment of nutrition services.
• Plot, record, and complete a physical assessment of clients.
• Perform accurate and complete data entry to document client screening and counseling in individualized care plans.
• Participate effectively in chart audit reviews.
• Provide input at case conferences, evaluations, planning committees, and outreach activities.
• Complete activity / inspection / reports and enter into appropriate databases.
• Participate in peer review activities and evaluation of program effectiveness.
• Ensure all WIC services are delivered in a family centered, culturally competent manner.
Required Skills
Qualified applicants will possess a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited college or university, registration with the Commission on Dietetics as a Registered Dietitian, and certification as a Dietitian (CD) in the state of Wisconsin with academic credits in program planning, budgeting, management, computer word processing, and community / public health. In addition, a minimum of two (2) years of employment in the field of Dietetics with demonstrated expertise in all requisite areas and specialized training in breastfeeding promotion and support.
Additional consideration will be shown to candidates who demonstrate the following:
• Two (or more) years of relevant Dietician / WIC experience.
• Bilingual proficiency (English / Spanish).
• Experience working with various racial and ethnic groups.
• Enhanced familiarity / experience with statistical theory / methods.
• Experience in public speaking with the ability to present data and other program materials in Microsoft PowerPoint.
