The Department of Homeland Security’s National Operations Center serves as the center for the coordination of Federal response to domestic incidents of national significance. From hurricanes to terrorist related events, the NOC provides around the clock situational awareness to the DHS senior leadership, as well as state and local partners. The Geospatial Analyst I will provide shift-based support in Geospatial Production for the National Operations Center, directly on the watch floor. The position directly supports Sr. Watch Officers, along with a variety of other agencies and components.

Responsibilities
The Geospatial Analyst I will be responsible for manning the Geospatial Information System Desk (GIS Desk) within the DHS National Operations Center unclassified environment. Additionally, the Geospatial Analyst I may be called to work on the classified side with DHS and NGA staff in support of particular events. The Geospatial Analyst will respond to NOC Sr. Watch Officer requirements for new products, which will be generated for dissemination with other tracked information regarding a particular incident and the department’s response posture. The successful candidate for the Geospatial Analyst I position requires an in-depth knowledge of industry leading Geospatial tools including the ESRI tool set. The Geospatial Analyst I, by virtue of the position, may be required to provide surge support during critical incidents affecting the nation’s security of safety.
Required Skills
Specific duties and skills associated with the Geospatial Analyst I include: • Rapid development of Geospatial Products using ESRI tool set • Ability to interpret and explain geospatial products to watch floor leadership • Understanding of visualization tools such as ESRI-based web interfaces and Google Earth • Ability to work autonomously • Understanding of Geo Databases and data in general, ability to incorporate data sets on-the-fly in a geospatial product • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written • Strong commitment to the Homeland Security mission.
